History
At the origin, there is the meeting between two families, each having a disabled child. During the day or week, their child receives the necessary cares within specialized facilities. But in addition to these cares, these children highly feel alone : little or no encounters with other young people their age, few opportunities to register in a club…
In may 2004, these families launched an appeal in the press. About 20 people from the municipalities of Treillières, La Chapelle-sur-Erdre and Sucé-sur-Erdre answered it : parents of children, young, adults with disability or people aware of this issue.
The municipalitie of Treillières, the Alexandre Vincent strongly support this initiative by kindly lending a multipurpose room. The association organises for disabled and able-bodied children a judo initiation, manual activities and various discovery outings.
4 years later, the association face a growing demand of memberships, which it can hardly answer. Thus, it gathers 110 members : adults and young people (among which 30 are disabled) living in the township.
It most often organises twice a week : on Wednesday, or the weekend activities bringing together, if possible, children and young people with disabilities and others able-bodied around sport (adapted sport, judo, sailing, climbing), artistical activities (dance, theater, pottery, music), manual activities (gardening, cooking), discovery activities (Clochette et Libellule’s, Walk with the donkeys) and during entertaining events for Christmas, for the music festival, for weekends.
The association is cantonal (La Chapelle-sur-Erdre, Treillières et Sucé-sur-Erdre). Its local objective is important so that families can meet each other within their communes and wards. That is why the association can not accept all families from Nantes conurbation; however it is willing to help other families to create the same type of association in others areas of Nantes.
Today, the association has 35 members, with a able-bodied people majority, and this is increasing.
